SRO Motorsports Group (SRO) have launched a new 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship brand identity. Having been awarded world championship status by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, this year’s FIA GT1 World Championship will visit 10 countries in four continents, supported with a new logo and identity. This year, the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship, GT2 and GT3 European Championships, will be split into three new distinct and easily identifiable championships.

Darren Turner has been announced as one of the drivers for the ‘Young Driver AMR’ team in the FIA GT1 World Championship. This move will see the British sportscar ace reunited with the car that took him to successive Le Mans 24 Hours victories in 2007 and 2008: the Aston Martin DBR9.
With Aston Martin Racing focussing its factory programme on the new LMP1 regulations that come into force in 2011, Darren has the opportunity to return to the GT1 class for 2010.


Former FIA GT driver Jose Maria Lopez will step up to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship after signing to drive for the new US F1 team. The 26-year-old, Argentinean, who drove a DAMS Lamborghini Murcielago FIA GT in 2004 and an ACA Argentina Ferrari 550 Maranello in the 2008 season, was confirmed in his new Formula One role with an announcement in Buenos Aires by Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and US F1 Executive Vice President Peter Windsor on Monday 25 January.

Entries for the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship closed on Friday December 15th, at midnight. Six brands will be represented, with 12 teams each with two cars, making a total of 24 cars on the grid.

In a press release issued on Thursday January 14th, Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minami-Ooi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuichi Sanada; henceforth “NISMO”) announced that NISMO just signed the official partnership agreements for the FIA GT1 World Championship with Sumo Power GT (UK) and Swiss Racing Team (CH). Both teams will run two NISSAN GT-Rs respectively in the inaugural World Championship. NISMO will provide technical support to its new racing partners. Other details including driver line-up will be announced at the later date.
Entries close on Friday January 15th and are subject to confirmation by the FIA
